Llandyrnog R.S.C. vs Blackpool True Blues R.S.C.

...continued

"The match had been over as a contest for a while and the game came to an end, with both managers agreeing to a penalty shootout, just for fun. The game was played in this manner throughout, good humour and fair play.

Llandyrnog won the penalties and saved a little face, but the trophy was bound for the seaside.

Captain Paul "Barry Ferguson" Anderson lifted the trophy to wonderful applause, a trophy which bears the name of Davie Cooper, which was such a shame that none of Davie's wonderful skills were on show today, but the effort was and that was all that mattered.

After the game, both teams retired to the Golden Lion public house for the after match party and charity auction, the real reson we were all here.

The auction included prizes such as: 1 week in an apartment in Tenerife, a signed Scotland shirt, a signed Rangers shirt (thanks to Davie Weir), a signed Blackpool ball (thanks to Charlie Adam) and various other items of memorabilia.

The end result of the auction was a great success with over £600 being raised for the centre!

Due to the success of the day, both teams have agreed to try and make the fixture an annual event with the next game being held in Blackpool, who knows we may even include more teams and make a tournament of it, the more the merrier and if it helps the charity then i'm all for it.

All in all it was a great experience, two Rangers supporters clubs from outwith Scotland getting together with a common goal, no-one knew the other team but now we are firm friends and we have both done our little bit for charity. This is what is great about being a Rangers fan, making friends and helping a great cause."
