Partnership announced with Cornerstone Community Care

"Football Greats Show Support to Charitable Partnership"

Scottish Football Association Chief Executive Gordon Smith showed his support at a charity drinks reception at Hampden Park’s Scottish Football Museum (29th October).  The reception was held in celebration of the new partnership between Cornerstone, one of Scotland’s leading charities and providers of care and The Davie Cooper Centre which, when constructed, will provide an outdoor and indoor facility for special needs children and their families.

Bobby Russell, ex Rangers football club star, also attended as did family, friends and supporters of both organisations.  Guests had the opportunity to tour the national Museum whilst hearing more about the partnership that will see Cornerstone run The Davie Cooper Centre on its completion.

Edel Harris, Cornerstone’s Chief Executive, and a recently appointed member of The Davie Cooper Centre Board, said “We were delighted to see so many supporters attend our drinks reception as this partnership means a lot to both Cornerstone and The Davie Cooper Centre.  Cornerstone aims ‘to enable the people we support to enjoy a valued life’ and The Davie Cooper Centre will allow us to make a real difference to the lives of even more people.  We are looking forward to working with The Davie Cooper Centre on this project.”

Jackie MacDonald, founder of The Davie Cooper Centre charity, added “The partnership between ourselves and Cornerstone is a massive bonus to us and I would like to thank them for the enjoyable evening last night which has helped raise our profile as we enter our fundraising drive.  I would also like to extend our thanks to our patrons Gordon Smith, Bobby Russell and Simon Leslie for their ongoing support.

“With outline planning now secured and a completion date of 2010 anticipated, we are now really excited to move onto the next phase of our project development and it was great to see so many people attend the reception to offer their support.”

Once completed, The Davie Cooper Centre will be in West Dunbartonshire and will include a large adventure play garden, family centre for up to 60 children, respite accommodation with four bed spaces and will offer an outreach programme.
