Proposed Centre

( based on our initial design study by Gareth Hoskins Archetects )

From the entrance space visitors can go directly to either the main day spaces, the garden, the toilets, the counselling room or the office suite for a meeting.

The main day spaces, multi task area, messy play, and soft play areas are in one large volume and face the garden. Associated day spaces for complimentary activities are accessed directly from the main volume i.e. young adults room, music room, therapy room, sensory room, small kitchen area and data base area. Distributed throughout all the day spaces will be built in storage. The toilets can also be accessed from the main day space volume.

The toilets have a shared hand wash area for both male and female visitors. Off this area are seperate rooms for large male and female toilet cubicles. Also off tghe shared hand wash area is a hygiene/changing room which is equipped with a sink and hoist onto an adult size adjustable changing area for cleaning/washing up mess and changing soiled clothes. There is also a baby change room and nursing room adjacent to the toilets.

At the far west of the day centre away from the children's play areas are staff/back-up spaces - the external toy/equipment store, a workshop for staff and a plant room.

The day centre offices are to the east of and adjacent to the entrance and reception area, away from the children's area.

The jacuzzi is a special pavillion in the garden, accessible from both day centre and respite areas.
